Member News: Five Apples Nominated for BAFTA

Children’s television show, Apple Tree House created by three MeWe Incubator members Akin Akinsiku, Maria Timotheou and Will Vanderpuye, was nominated as Best Children’s Drama at the BAFTAs.

The show, which was first broadcast in May 2017 on CBeebies, is described as an everyday slice of modern life through children’s eyes and is a live-action series aimed at children under 11. Set in the fictitious Apple Tree House estate in London, it’s inspired by the writers’ own childhoods and positive experiences of growing up in East London.

Although they didn’t win, to be nominated on the strength of one series is an incredible achievement. Congratulations to them and all involved!

A second series has been commissioned, so there’s more great stuff to come from Apple Tree House. Find out more about their company Five Apples.
