Launched with investment from Ingenious Media, Arts Council and Esmee Fairbairn.

Opened our first member’s hub – a Georgian building in the heart of Soho.

Channel 4 becomes a corporate member of MeWe as part of its initiative to identify and support creative talent at its earliest stage and develop ideas from a diverse talent base.

Expanded our members’ hubs in Soho Square. At our peak (pre-Covid-19), our two Georgian townhouses provided offices, studios, events space and meeting rooms, creating a physical ‘home’ and resource for Black, Brown & Asian entrepreneurs, hosting everything from grassroots community networks to high profile artists and social entrepreneurs such as Idris Elba, Lenny Henry and Riz Ahmed.

Launched a new initiative with Creative UK (formerly Creative England) to support increased diversity in film, tv and new digital media.

Granted National Portfolio status by Arts Council England, recognising the strategic importance of our work supporting diversity, equity and inclusion in the arts & culture sector.

The Covid-19 Pandemic prompted a period of reflection and adaptation. We closed our physical member hubs and focused on innovating hybrid in-person and digital offerings.

2021

Published our research paper on the Impact of Covid on Black, Brown & Asian creative entrepreneurs.

Convened a debate on the ‘Post Covid new normal for Black, Brown & Asian creative organisations’, chaired by Mohit Bakaya (Radio 4 Controller), including funding institutions, entrepreneurs, academia and arts consultancies.

2021

Renewed our national portfolio status with the Arts Council, to become an Investment Principles Support Organisation (IPSO) helping drive increased ambition, dynamism, inclusion & relevance in the sector.

Partnered with Create Equity to pilot a new programme and fund aimed at accelerating the growth of Black, Brown & Asian led organisations.

2021

Celebrated the 6th anniversary of our stewardship of Deutsche Bank Awards for Creative Entrepreneurs (DBACE) having tripled their applications and significantly increasing the programmes diversity.

Strategy delivery, governance implementation and organisational change specialist

Edwin Elder brings significant experience in programme delivery, organisational change and governance implementation, strengthening the Board’s capacity to ensure MeWe completes its current commitments in a structured, well-managed and accountable way.
