More about their enterprise:
Black Girl Knit Club is a creative collective that empowers Black women and women of colour through craft, community and connection. The group focuses on hand knitting, offering workshops, talks and events that bring people together to share skills, stories and experiences.
The collective was founded by Sicgmone Kludje and Vanessa Koranteng, who were inspired to create an inclusive space where creativity could flourish without barriers. Their vision is to build a community that unites Black women and girls through the power of making, while providing a supportive environment to develop confidence, celebrate identity and nurture self-expression.
Through its work, Black Girl Knit Club not only highlights the value of creativity as a tool for wellbeing, but also seeks to challenge the lack of visibility of Black makers in the craft industry. By championing diverse voices and showcasing talent, the collective is helping to redefine what the creative landscape looks like, and to ensure it better reflects the communities it serves.
